Album Review: JadaKiss – “The Last Kiss”

April 12, 2009 · 2 Comments

Jada is back with his third solo album entitled “The Last Kiss” and he is taking no prisoners. The album has been five years in the making and apparently things do get better with time. Before I get into the review of the album I just want to say that if you haven’t listened to Jadakiss like that, you need to. The dude is SO underrated but the truth is that he could probably eat your favorite rapper for lunch and not even get indigestion. He is as lyrically versatile as anyone to ever spit and what makes that even more impressive is that all his rhymes actually make since, I mean like when he says something witty. Basically, Jada don’t spit to spit, he drops knowledge. Anyway, most times when people talk about the hottest rappers in the game, you hardly hear them mention Jada, but right now he is definitely in my top five mc’s breathing along with Jay, T.I., Weezy, and Kanye. Sorry Jeezy.

jadakisscoverIn stores now, go get it!!

Now back to the album, first off I want to say thanks to kiss for giving us 18 tracks, I mean these days most stop at 14 or 15, I mean what’s all that about? Jada hits you hard right out you the gate on the second track with the club banger “Can’t Stop Me” f/ Ayanna Irish. This track is kind of feel good point for the summer basically saying that if you stay focus nobody can stop and that ain’t nothing but the truth. The next track “Who’s Real” f/Swizz Beatz is let’s just say underwhelming but not for Jada’s lack of hot rhymes but rather for Swizz’s less than stellar beat, (more…)

You may not know the name but you definitely have heard her hit single “Need U Bad” which has been a staple on radio stations all over the country ever since she dropped it. After what has been a very long road for this young artist, she finally dropped her debut album “Fearless” today.

Fearless in stores now!!

Back in my “Who’s Next” on her I told you that she was hot and this album proves it. This album is probably one of the most ambitious debuts I have heard in a while. (more…)

Album Review: Neyo – Year Of The Gentleman

September 20, 2008 · 7 Comments

Neyo is back with his third album “Year of the Gentleman” and he is definitely changing the game. Even though he has seen much success including several Grammy’s, Neyo is not using that as an excuse to become stagnant. No, in fact this album is perhaps his most introspective and well written yet, and that is saying a lot because as far as I am concerned he is one of the best writers in the game right now.

The album jumps off with the #1 single “Closer”, and if you ain’t heard that one you must have been living under a rock. The next banger comes with the third track, “Single”, that has Neyo sweeping a women off her feet who’s man is less than attentive. This is the kind of track that fellas will listen to and wonder if they are paying their girl enough attention (Note to the fellas: If you aren’t, you might want to (more…)

Album Review: The Game-L.A.X (Deluxe Edition)… Is The Game Better Than 50?

August 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

The Game is back with his third album L.A.X and I gotta say that I am digging it. In fact, to be honest I have liked all The Game’s albums. From the very start their has been a lot of controversy surrounding him, none bigger than his very nasty and public split with G-Unit and 50. After “The Documentary” sold 586,000 copies in its first week and went on to sell over 5 million copies worldwide there was a lot of contention from 50 cent that he had in fact been the genius behind most of the tracks. It got even nastier when when 50 said that the game couldn’t really write and without him he wouldn’t do anything. Not exactly the way it worked out huh 50?

Is This Really The Game’s Last Album??

So “L.A.X.” is a very enjoyable trip from beginning to end. (more…)

Album Review: Trina, Is She Still Da Baddest B@#$!??

May 31, 2008 · 1 Comment

You damn skippy she is. Trina smashed back on to the scene earlier this year with her hot new album “Still Da Baddest B@$!”. From the start of the album, Trina is in rare form hitting you hard and early with “Killing You Hoes”, which is a track that tells all the chicks out there that are hating on her exactly what they can do. This one is definitely gone to the be the back up off me track of the summer for all the baddest chicks out there.

Then comes the first single off the album “I Got A Thang For Ya f/Keyshia Cole”. This track has been out for a while but can still be heard bumping in cars all over the country. The track combines Trina being Trina mixed with that beautiful voice of Ms. Cole to create (more…)

Album Review: Usher’s “Here I Stand”…But Does It, Stand Up I Mean?

May 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The first thing I wanna say is that this album is not Confessions. Confessions was a classic and no artist makes a classic record every time out, as a matter of fact I don’t know any that make a classic back to back but with that being said, Here I Stand is classic Usher.

The thing people should have figured out about Usher is that most of the times his albums reflect whats going on in his life at the time. With My Way, it was him coming into his own and trying to become a man, with Confessions it was him going through a lot of turmoil and the ups and downs that come with being young, rich, and a sex symbol. Now with his new album, Here I Stand, you hear a much more grown up Usher dealing with all the things that come with being grown up, having kids, a wife, and major responsibility.

With that being said this album is NOT as good as Confessions (more…)
